Princess Alexandra Hospital - Alcohol and Drug Assessment Unit

The Alcohol and Drug Assessment Unit (ADAU) in the Princess Alexandra Hospital is a multidisciplinary clinical service and part of the Division of Medicine at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. The ADAU follow best practice in alcohol and drug treatment, education, research and addictions medicine. It offers an inpatient liaison clinical service across all hospital inpatient units and provides outpatient assessment and treatment of substance use problems. Outpatient treatment programs are offered for alcohol, cannabis, and stimulants. The ADAU does not provide Opiate Treatment Programs.

There is no cost involved and anyone can contact the ADAU to make an appointment. It is an appointment only service (no walk-ins) for people aged 16+ and as well as face to face appointments, scope is available for the provision of telephone and telehealth appointments and access to interpreters is available if required. Treatment programs are conducted on a one-to one basis, and initially are weekly sessions of 60 minutes duration.
