Anglicare North Queensland (Anglicare NQ) is a longstanding presence in the North Queensland region, offering a diverse array of programs spanning from Townsville to Airlie Beach in the south and extending northward to Cairns, Tablelands and the Cape and Torres Strait Islands.

With over 30 years of service in the region, Anglicare NQ is well-versed in a wide range of areas, including Housing and Homelessness, Youth Support Services, Education and Training, Non-family-based Residential Care, Diversionary Supports, and Community Outreach.

The Bama Dakil Diversionary Centre provides a safe and culturally appropriate sobering-up facility where clients are provided with supervision, care, companionship and support. While individuals are in the centre, they are provided with meals and access to personal hygiene and laundry facilities. Other services offered include: public intoxication program, case management and cell watch visitor program.

The Centre is open 24 hours per day and clients are encouraged to stay for a minimum of four hours or until they are sober.
