Redcliffe Caboolture Alcohol and Drug Service - Needle and Syringe Program (Caboolture)
Needle and syringe programs (NSP) are a public health measure, consistent with the National Drug Strategy’s harm minimisation framework, to reduce the spread of infections such as HIV and hepatitis C among injecting drug users. The Redcliffe Caboolture Alcohol and Drug Service - Needle and Syringe Program (Caboolture) provide:
- sterile injecting equipment
- education on reducing drug use
- health information
The injecting equipment provided includes needles and syringes, swabs and ‘sharps bins’ for the safe disposal of used needles and syringes. Sterile water and wheel filters are also available for a small fee. A 'sharps bin' is located on site to allow for the safe disposal of used injecting equipment and there is a syringe vending machine on site which dispenses packs 24/7 for a small fee.
The Caboolture Needle and Syringe Program is open from 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday and closed daily from 1.00pm to 1.30pm. For more information about the Caboolture Needle and Syringe Program and the services they provide phone 5433 8300.
